Less & La Marca Prosecco
This past weekend we were out of town visiting friends, and once again were without internet. A few years ago, this may have given me crippling anxiety, but lately it has been a gift. We are free to be in the moment, to leave our phones behind, to enjoy company over Instagram. This trip was to our friend's farmhouse, complete with horses and chickens and late nights.
However, the no-internet thing is not so great when you're trying to keep up a weekly blog... I was able to snap some pictures with my pairing, but the post was delayed until my return home. Oops!
The Pairing
Less by Andrew Sean Greer and La Marca Prosecco
1) I apologize that it took me so long to pair with a Prosecco
2) I love Prosecco
3) I love this particular Prosecco
4) Maybe all pairings from here on out should be Prosecco?
5) Bubbles!
Now that that's done, I can talk about Less. Andrew Sean Greer recently won a Pulitzer prize for this novel. I don't know much about the qualifications for that particular award, but I do know that I really enjoyed reading it. A man on a journey to try to deal with his heartbreak? Yes, please.
The pairing was so easy. After reading this book, I knew I needed something light (you can quickly and easily turn the pages of Less), something that can fit into different occasions (the premise of the novel is about this man in many different global settings), and something you'd be happy to recommend to friends (which I now do with this book). No contest- Prosecco. La Marca is a great go-to. It tastes of peach and apple and has the perfect little bubbles that get in your nose (see item 5 above).
If you want something light and delicious that you can't put down, grab one of these two things. Or, better yet, grab both.

Don't let your bubbles escape! Grab this adorable wine stopper so you can keep enjoying your Prosecco throughout every chapter. Also, if you want to follow Arthur Less's travels, pick up a cute world map. Throw a couple pins in to mark where you'll drink Prosecco next! (I checked, the couch is apparently not included.)

I bring in this pairing now not only because Prosecco and summer are a match made in vino-heaven, but because the theme of travel is particularly pertinent in my own life. Lately we have spent more days on the road than at home, so I needed a character I could relate to.
Arthur Less is, if nothing else, relatable. I love the way that ASG writes... it feels so true to real life. When you are trying to get over a heartbreak, you do everything to distract yourself, but little thoughts of that person will randomly and uncontrollably slip into your mind. Greer nails it.
