The Happiness Project & Lindemans Pinot Grigio Bin 85
There has been so much progress over at PageFiftyNine headquarters (aka, my living room). A business plan is in the works, a logo is being created, and I just went on another wine shopping spree! My fiance is thrilled.
This week's pairing embodies my mood lately- spring is here(ish), the school year is charging towards graduation (but still so far, hence the wine shopping spree)... overall, I'm growing lighter and less stressed each day. I hope you all are feeling the same!

The Pairing
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin and Lindemans Pinot Grigio Bin 85
Do you need a pick-me-up? Already feeling great and want to keep the train rolling? Not sure what you're in the mood for, but want something light? ...Do you like to make charts and lists? The answer to all of these and more: grab this pairing. This wine and book combo is for anyone in any place in life.
I first read The Happiness Project years ago when, no surprise, I wasn't all that happy. At first glance, the title and description made it seem like happiness was something you could attain with a basic step-by-step guide, which sounded GREAT. Obviously, that's not really what the book claims to do, but rather exposes the reader to many forms and styles of increasing happiness. It opened my eyes to all the ways I was perpetuating habits and maintaining relationships that were bringing me unhappiness. I now cherish this little guide and occasionally reread it, just to remember how to prioritize, how to say "no," and how to recognize when something (or someone) is bringing me down. Not bad for less than 300 pages!
The same could be said for this wine. You're having a a bad day, you're sadly cruising the wine aisle, and all of a sudden you see "SMILE." staring out at you. I'm probably grabbing it hoping that it's magical wine that will make me feel giddy and carefree with one sip. Just like The Happiness Project, this turned out to be not quite true, but it did make me feel good that I'd discovered a tasty wine that doesn't break the bank.
This Pinot Grigio has a strong fruity smell- perfect for these new spring days. The taste is pretty tart, but not in an unpleasant or sour way. While I might not serve this at a high-end meal, it's perfect for relaxing on the deck with some cheese and crackers and good company. This is also how I feel about Rubin's novel; it wouldn't be my first suggestion to a stranger about a book they have to read, but instead it's one I'd recommend to a good friend who is looking to make some changes in their life.
Soon I'll be able to ship this pair directly to your door, but in the meantime you'll have to do all the manual labor yourself. I promise it will be worth your time!
